If you were asked to spend a year living in a different location, where would you choose and why?
The Daily Post in all it’s wisdom has done it again. Are they talking about a pied-à-terre or college? The title suggests college but the next line leaves it open to just living overseas. My answer would be vastly different depending on which one we are talking about.
Education is the trek I’ll take here. First is Germany. Why? Because I can go to college for free. Well, and my ancestors on both sides came heavily from Germany. Admitted they arrived before the Revolution but it is no reason I can’t go back and live there now that we don’t have to worry about such things as the 100 Years War.
Yes, I said College was free. 7 Countries where Americans can study for free or almost free [in English] explains it. “What’s more, Americans can earn a German undergraduate or graduate degree without speaking a word of German and without having to pay a single dollar of tuition fees” Why in the hell would you stay in the USA and end up in 100,000s of thousands of dollars in debt?
France would be the next runner-up. I speak French so I wouldn’t have to worry about finding an English class.
Finland, Sweden and Norway are next runners-up.
I mean a top-notch international education makes you wonder why we in the USA don’t haul ass over there to begin with. It’s FREAKIN FREE. Which is more than you can say for good ole State U.
Now if you were talking on a personal level, England. Even if me Sis puts me in the barn to sleep when I get there. England has always been a favorite, I blame too many lifetimes spent as an Englishman for that. I speak British better than American. I watch their TV shows as my main shows. Bluestone 42 is my current favorite. It’s just a better fit.
Second runner-up is Canada. Well… except for the cold. The cold has sent me for a loop this year.
